Bulgaria’s external debt grew 15% in March, the bulletin of the Finance Ministry showed. The reason is the EUR-denominated bond issue from March 19 of EUR 3.1 billion. Thus the total government debt reached EUR 12.2 billion.
Parallel to this the Finance Ministry paid the bridge loan of EUR 1.5 million drawn in December last year. It was provided to the Bulgarian Deposit Insurance Fund (BDIF) for the purpose of repaying guaranteed deposits at bankrupt Corporate Commercial Bank (CorpBank).
